Our wonderful new best friend, John Whaite, who was Great British Bake Off Champion 2012 and judged Avant’s very own Leyland Bake Off last year, has published his latest book of baking delights which features our winner’s recipe!

At the Good Food Show this Summer, John publicised John Whaite Bakes: At Home and says, “I judged (this cake) at a baking event for Avant Garden Centre in Leyland, Lancashire.  The winner of the competition, Wendy Haydock, kindly gave me her recipe.”

We are thrilled John has mentioned our quirky little garden centre and are delighted to see his career on an upward trajectory.  A personable, more generous-spirited and intelligent man you could not wish to meet…and we hope we do again in the future.
