The clocks have gone forward, it’s officially Spring!
It’s definitely time to start planting!
Below are just a handful of seeds that we have in store that you can sow in April
Flowers
Black Eyed Susan (Thunbergia alata – perennial) – Small yellow or orange flowers, with dark brown centres. Fairly fast growing, evergreen perennial climber
Dahlia – There are many different types of dahlia, varying in height, colour and flower type. Seeds grow into tubers that will need pulling up at the end of the flowering season, and overwintered in a dry, frost free place.
Nicotiana – Very popular annual plant, adds height and colour to beds and borders. Come in a variety of different colours.
Petunia – Amazing bedding plant, especially in a hanging basket. Bundles of colour flowering from Spring right through to Autumn
Verbena – Great plant for pollinators, comes in shades of pink, red and purple
Vegetables
Beans/Peas – many different varieties, will need supporting with a frame or canes once they start getting tall enough
Pak Choi – (ivory) Easy to grow with leafy green leaves and white stems.
Rocket – A favourite in a mixed salad or as an added bit of greenery with breakfasts and lunches
