Now that Spring is well and truly on its way, it’s time to start sowing all those seeds. Luckily, now that March has hit, there are tonnes of different plants you can start to grow!

Below are just a handful of seeds that we have in store that you can sow in March

Flowers

Hollyhocks – Beautiful flowers on tall stems, they like full sun and are hardy in most places (perennial)

Lupins – Another garden favourite, they love a lot of sun and bloom on tall stems with masses of green foliage (perennial)

Scabious – Beautiful pincushion flowers on long stems, typically in a blue, white or pink colour and perfect for borders. (Annual)

Sunflowers – Possibly one of the more popular seeds to sow at this time of year, due to their ease. They can be found in a variety of warm hues from sunny yellow, all the way through to a deed red (Annual)

Zinnia – A beautiful bedding or pot plant. Have a long flowering season if deadheaded regularly, but be wary as they are loved by slugs (annual)

Vegetables

Carrot – Carrots are a popular vegetable to start in March, but if directly sowing into the ground make sure the soil wasn’t recently manured or the roots could fork

Lettuce (All year round) – for continuous crops, sow every 2-3 weeks

Pumpkins – Ideal for Halloween, with vegetables growing up to 9kg in weight

Sweet Corn (Incredible) – Fast growing variety, with a good tolerance to common rust (ideal in wet weather)
