Avant’s Gardening Club members were really engaged by Tom Atherton, Sweet Pea expert, and his tales of Sweet Pea growing yesterday.  Did you know that the Sweet pea flower is Britain’s favourite over even the rose?

Tom’s talk with illustrations was followed up with a demo on planting from seed and his secrets for successful germination and growth.

 

 

 

 

Members posed questions about their own experiences, as did our Katy –  so with a little good weather we should be seeing a bumper harvest next year for sale as cut flowers in the shop!

Next month’s Gardening Club meets on Wednesday 11 November at 10.30am and is on the wide and varied topic of bulbs.
